Staff Accountant - ACA Reporting (Project-Based)

Position Summary

The Staff Accountant will support Affordable Care Act (ACA) compliance by preparing, validating, and filing required ACA information returns on a project basis. This role focuses on year-end reporting accuracy, coordination with internal teams, and timely submission to the IRS and employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and file ACA forms (1094-C/1095-C and/or 1094-B/1095-B, as applicable)
  • Reconcile payroll, benefits, and HR data to ensure reporting accuracy
  • Apply correct ACA codes and affordability safe harbors
  • Coordinate distribution of employee statements
  • Submit electronic filings through the IRS AIR system
  • Assist with corrections and respond to IRS ACA notices, if needed
  • Maintain documentation and compliance records for audit support

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Experience with ACA reporting and IRS information returns
  • Strong attention to detail and data reconciliation skills
  • Familiarity with payroll, benefits, and HRIS systems
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict filing deadlines
